INGREDIENTS
200 g of sticky rice
100 g of canned tuna
1 tablespoon of rice vinegar
1 tablespoon of mayonnaise
1 tablespoon of sriracha
1 tablespoon of Greek yogurt
2 Nori leaves
Sesame seeds
Vegetable oil
METHOD
Step 1: Prepare the Rice
Start by boiling the sticky rice according to the instructions on the package. Once cooked, transfer the rice to a bowl and add the rice vinegar. Mix well and allow the rice to cool down.
Step 2: Prepare the Tuna Filling
In a separate bowl, combine the canned tuna, mayonnaise, sriracha, and Greek yogurt. Mix well until all the ingredients are evenly incorporated, creating a flavourful and creamy tuna filling.
Step 3: Shape the Onigiri
Take a tablespoon of the cooled sticky rice into the palm of your hand and flatten it down. Place a teaspoon of the tuna mixture in the centre of the rice. Cover the filling with another tablespoon of rice and shape the mixture into a triangle, ensuring the filling is fully enclosed.
Step 4: Garnish with Nori and Sesame Seeds
Cut a piece of nori leaf and place it across the bottom of the onigiri, allowing it to stick to the rice. Next, cover two other sides of the onigiri with sesame seeds, adding a delightful crunch and nutty flavour.
Step 5: Pan-Fry the Onigiri
Preheat a small amount of vegetable oil in a pan over medium heat. Carefully place the onigiri in the pan and fry each side for approximately one minute, or until they become golden brown and crispy.
