INGREDIENTS

500 g of high-quality ground beef
800 g of luscious canned crushed tomatoes
1-2 vibrant red bell peppers, finely diced
1 large garlic clove, finely chopped
1 can of kidney beans
1 can of sweet corn
1 onion, finely chopped
50 g of rich tomato paste
Salt, to taste
1-2 teaspoons of sweet paprika powder
2 tablespoons of premium olive oil
1/4 teaspoon of invigorating cayenne pepper
A pinch of sugar
1 teaspoon of ground cinnamon

METHOD

1. Begin by peeling and finely dicing one onion and a large garlic clove. In a large pot or skillet, heat 2 tablespoons of luscious olive oil and sauté the onion and garlic until they become translucent.

Pro Tip: If you’re seeking an extra kick, introduce a washed chili pepper at this stage. The variety will determine the spiciness, so choose according to your preference, and finely dice it with or without seeds. Sauté it with the onions and garlic for an added punch.

2. Add 500 g of high-quality ground beef to the pan, mixing it with the onions. Sauté over high heat until the beef is perfectly crumbly. Sprinkle a generous pinch of salt to enhance the flavours.

3. While the beef browns, prepare the bell peppers by washing, removing the seeds, and dicing them. Drain the kidney beans and corn, setting them aside briefly.

Note: Rinse canned legumes such as kidney beans with cold water after draining for improved digestibility.

4. Once the ground beef is beautifully browned, season it with 1-2 teaspoons of sweet paprika powder and incorporate 50 g of luscious tomato paste. Sauté briefly to enhance the richness.

5. Introduce the diced bell peppers to the pan, allowing them to sauté briefly and absorb the flavours.

6. Add 800 g of canned crushed tomatoes, along with the kidney beans and corn. Season the chili to perfection with cayenne pepper, salt, a pinch of sugar, and a hint of ground cinnamon.

Tips: For an extra layer of depth, add 1/2 teaspoon of cumin. If you desire a darker hue, stir in 2 teaspoons of cocoa powder.

7. Allow the chili to simmer with the lid on for 20-25 minutes over medium heat, adjusting the time based on your preference for vegetable crunchiness.

8. For serving, elevate your experience with Tabasco Pepper Sauce, a dollop of creamy sour cream, and a sprinkle of fresh parsley.

With its perfect balance of spices and textures, this homemade Chili Con Carne is not just a dish; it’s a culinary experience. Gather around the table, savour the warmth, and treat yourself to a bowl of this soul-soothing classic. From your kitchen to your heart, this recipe is a journey worth taking. Enjoy every flavourful bite!
