Strawberry & Mango Salsa with Tortilla Chips
This colourful Strawberry & Mango Salsa was inspired by an incredible painting by Faust Simon Orent (@faustasorentas)! The bold pinks, yellows, and reds in his artwork reminded me of fresh, vibrant ingredients, so I decided to turn it into a snack you can taste!
INGREDIENTS
For the salsa:
1 cup fresh strawberries, diced
1 ripe mango, diced
1 small red onion, finely chopped
1 small jalapeño, finely chopped (optional for spice)
1 handful fresh cilantro, chopped
Juice of 1 lime
Salt to taste
Black pepper to taste
For the tortilla chips:
4 large tortillas (flour or corn)
2 tbsp olive oil
½ tsp sea salt
½ tsp smoked paprika (optional, for extra flavor)
METHOD
1. Prepare the salsa:
Wash and dice the strawberries and mango into small, bite-sized pieces.
Finely chop the red onion, jalapeño (if using), and cilantro.
In a mixing bowl, combine the diced strawberries, mango, red onion, jalapeño, and cilantro.
Squeeze the lime juice over the mixture, then add salt and black pepper to taste.
Gently toss everything together and let the salsa sit for about 10-15 minutes to allow the flavours to meld.
2. Make the tortilla chips:
Preheat your oven to 180°C (350°F).
Brush both sides of the tortillas with olive oil.
Cut each tortilla into triangles or strips using a sharp knife or pizza cutter.
Arrange the tortilla pieces in a single layer on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
Sprinkle with sea salt and smoked paprika for flavour.
Bake for 8-10 minutes or until golden brown and crispy. Keep an eye on them to avoid burning.
Let the chips cool for a few minutes before serving.
3. Serve:
Transfer the salsa to a serving bowl and place it in the centre of a large platter.
Arrange the homemade tortilla chips around the salsa.
Enjoy immediately as a refreshing, colourful appetizer or snack!
Tips:
You can add diced avocado for extra creaminess or a splash of orange juice for a sweeter twist.
If you prefer store-bought tortilla chips, this salsa pairs well with lightly salted ones.

Big thanks to Faust Simon Orent for the inspiration—turns out, great art can lead to great flavours too!
