Upside-Down Oat & Pear Skillet Cake

Warm, soft, and just a little caramelised on top — this is one of those simple recipes that feels like comfort in every bite. Sweet pears, a hint of honey, and a soft oat base that comes together effortlessly.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup cooked oatmeal
  • 1/4 pear
  • 1 tbsp walnuts
  • 1 tbsp honey
  • 1 tsp butter
  • 1 tsp brown sugar

Method

Preheat the oven to 200°C.

Slice the pear into thin pieces.

In a bowl, mix the cooked oatmeal with honey until well combined.

Butter a small oven-safe skillet, then sprinkle brown sugar evenly over the bottom.

Arrange the pear slices and walnuts on top of the sugar.

Spoon the oatmeal mixture over the fruit and gently press it down to form an even layer.

Bake for 25–30 minutes, until the top is set and the bottom becomes slightly caramelised.

Let it cool for a few minutes, then carefully flip or serve directly from the skillet.
